The Girl: drinks gin in Southwold

So the weather was damp and windy, very windy. The skies were white and grey. But we never let bad weather stop play.

We recently met friends for a short overnight jaunt in beautiful Southwold. We stayed in The Crown, excellent service and fab room. We also had a great Sunday roast there before heading home.

On Saturday night we dined at The Swan, recently refurbed and it’s all gorgeous coppers, dark paints and sumptuous seating. The food was delicious and I recommend the curried cod and the cheese board (generous portions).

Talking of cheese, Slate is a cute little cheese shop, near to the Adnams cafe and shop. Definitely worth a visit for treats to take home. I also always enjoy a mooch in Collen and Clare for fashion treats.

We visited the Adnams distillery for a Sunday morning tour and gin tasting – gin Sunday’s may well be my new ‘thing’. Great tour by Gareth, interesting and the bonus was the view of the lighthouse.

We braved a very blustery walk along the pier and for the first time went into the novelty arcade. A totally fun way to shelter from the bad weather and lots of laughs trying out old and whacky arcade games.

It was a flying visit and we were sorry not to see the sun. No doubt we will return to see Southwold in all it’s glory.
