Pre-Trip Planning

The most stressful thing to do with planning your trip is making sure everything is in order before you go.  Once this is over, it will all be worth it.  However, that doesn’t change the fact that there are some things you have to reserve a certain number of days before you go.
In order, here is what you have to do before you take your trip…

  1. Hotel: There isn’t a set number of days before your trip that you have to do this, but it should be the first thing that you reserve because rooms fill up really fast.  I would recommend making reservations a year before the trip, especially if you’re staying in a Disney Resort.
  2. Dining: All of your dining reservations have to be made 180 days in advance at the latest.  I would say to go even earlier to make sure you can get the restaurants you want.
  3. Fast Passes: Ride reservations must be made 60 days in advance.  These will also transfer onto your Magic Bands if you choose to get them.

All this being said, you could totally spontaneously go to Disney World and ignore all of this.  You could stay at a non-Disney resort and go to the parks without having reserved anything.  However, this is a mistake that a lot of first-timers make on their vacations, and it definitely wouldn’t be recommended.
