Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi

Recently I had a shorter overnight stay in Bangkok, where I thought it does not make sense to head into the city, as this would only cut sleeping time.

Therefor I booked the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, which is directly within airport presmisses, although this comes at a premium. Usual rates are starting around 120 EUR.

After arriving from a domestic Thai Smile flight from Krabi, the desk of the Novotel was spotted immediatly and the employee quickly guided us to the waiting shuttle to the airport. Theoretically you can also walk from the terminal to the hotel, but inside an air-conditioned bus is for sure more comfortable. The ride just took five minutes.

Inside the hotel we were quickly checked in and went to the room, which was quite fare away, as this hotel is huge with over 1000 rooms. The halls look quite bland, but I think that is not the top-priority in an airport hotel.

I also took advantage of the pool, which is inside the courtyard of the hotel. Between some flights, a refreshing swim is just what the doctor ordered.

In the evening, we booked a table at the main buffet restaurant, and although not cheap with around 35EUR per person, there was a lot of choice and all the items we tried were high quality.

The next morning we left the hotel at aroun 04h00AM to catch our Air Astana flight to Astana.

An interesting fact, which you should keep in mind when considering this hotel: all room rates are for 24 hours, so no matter when during the day you arrive, you can always keep your room 24 hours.

Bottom line:

The Novotel Suvarnabhumi is great for an overnight stop, if your main priority is sleeping, but if you have enough time, always head downtown in Bangkok, even if it is just to enjoy some hours of the vibe there.
