Less Bourbon, please!

New Orleans is one of my most favorite cities in America and now that I live 3.5 hours away from it, I’ve been too many times to count! Usually, when I go, I stay downtown, somewhere relatively close to Bourbon St. and go to the usual places like the French Market and Jackson Square but this time, I did something a little different. I booked a room at the Henry Howard Hotel and I’m SO glad I did! This little boutique hotel was such a hidden gem! I absolutely loved it! It was a totally different side of New Orleans that I’ve never experienced before. It was more fancy and less…Bourbon!

The Henry Howard Hotel is located in the Garden District of New Orleans, about a 15-minute drive from the French Quarter. There is a trolley (or streetcar, whatever you call it where you’re from) within walking distance that can take you just about anywhere you want to go in the city for only $3 for an all-day pass and it runs 24 hours a day!

The decor in this hotel is absolutely gorgeous! It’s very elegant and has a very warm feel. I felt like I was walking into someone’s home versus a standard hotel. Our room was delicate and unique and the bed…omg so comfortable! Every employee I met felt like…a friend! They even knew my name when I walked in to check out! :)

No kidding, I think every time I visit New Orleans, I’m going to stay here. It’s so different from downtown and there were so many restaurants and shops within walking distance that I want to visit!

*You know how I always say traveling doesn’t have to be expensive? Well here’s another great way to save money. If you fly into New Orleans then get an Uber to the Henry Howard Hotel, you could literally take the 24-hour trolley just about anywhere you would want to go and save a bunch of money on transportation because you wouldn’t have to rent a car or constantly Uber!! Or even if you’re going to drive to New Orleans, you could park your car at the hotel and take the trolley to save you on gas!!

I need to figure out a hashtag or something for when I’m about to drop some money saving knowledge on yall! :D Thinking…Thinking…Thinking…..how about “M.S.K”s (money saving knowledge) or…..OOOOOHHH what about “T.R.I.P” (Traveling Really Isnt Pricey). I kinda like that. It’s super relative. I’ll keep thinking. Tell me what yall think down below!

Here’s a short video of my room:

FOOD

While I’m talking about new places I’ve visited in New Orleans, I can’t forget this cute little cafe I went to in the French Quarter. It is called Envie Espresso Bar and Cafe and it was so good! I don’t know why I expected anything less because I’ve never been to a restaurant in New Orleans and not liked the food. NEVER!  So we walked into this cafe and it was kinda small with little tables lined against the wall with people on their laptops, talking to their friends, or writing in their diaries. I order the traditional breakfast and Eric got the breakfast sandwich. We sat against a window and the guy on the other side of the window was writing in his diary! I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little nosey so my eyes cut over to his book a couple of times. Oh, don’t judge me!! The book was wide open! You know you would have looked too! lol But anyways, lol, the food was really good and I would definitely visit there again. I really liked the vibe and vibe is important! #goodvibesonly

Have you ever been to New Orleans? What did you do? Tell me about it in the comments below!
