Ilwaco Halloween 2018

For our own Halloween, including lots of trick or treaters, see our daily (mostly) gardening blog.

A post there from early this week has a pre-Halloween tour of assorted Ilwacoan holiday decorations from the evening before.

We had two walkabout’s from our house. I took the first walk at 4:50 PM, just as trick or treating was beginning.

Heading east on Lake Street:

It was originally from Missy, AKA Lucy Dagger, AKA the Sea Witch, that I got the idea of decorating my garage this year as a woodsy grotto.

up a short hill to the inn

The inn, a former church, always puts on a good show in their lobby and the old chapel.

There was some excitement at the inn when a smoke alarm sounded and our fire department came.  It must have caused some excitement at the fire station, too, where the volunteer firefighters were handing out treats.

It turned out to be a false alarm caused by artificial mist.

Sometimes Halloween can be a little bit scary for the littles.

We are sure that all of us who decorate for Halloween are planning an even better extravaganza for next year.  I am already making a list of ideas.
