Al Dawaar – revolving while eating

One of the oldest restaurant located in the heart of Dubai; Deira, with a 360 view to die for! I recently visited for a birthday dinner and boy was I excited to see what they had to offer.

It is pretty easy to locate and there is free valet parking available as well. The restaurant is located at the 25th floor of Hyatt Regency. As soon as i stepped into the restaurant I was mesmerized by the classy interiors, dim lighting and magnificent view. We were seated on the lower deck, closer to the window and my eyes were glued to them the entire evening. Ambiance is very relaxed and soothing. The service was a bit slow and chaotic in the beginning, but later on we got a great server who took care of our every needs and was ever so courteous.

Coming to the buffet spread; I first started off with salads, cold cuts & cheese. The dishes that stood out for me were; grilled vegetable salad, beetroot salad, potato salad& babaganoush. Special mention to their sushi selection, because those California rolls were truly the best in terms of quality & taste! <3

Soups; I opted for the cream of mushroom, which was creamy and felt like a warm hug with every spoonful.

There was a dimsum corner, which had one chicken variety, however, the wrapper was stiff at the edges and that was quite off-putting. Next in line, was the carving station, this had a whole baked seabream along with a lemon butter sauce, prime ribs and lamb which was cooked medium rare sadly it wasn’t seasoned well.

Coming to the mains, surprisingly the options are quite less and consisted of; chicken tandoori, beef; which was a bit too chewy, duck in hoisin sauce which was so overcooked, but that sauce was lovely and if the duck had been done right this dish could have been a winner. Chicken biryani, steamed rice, pulao and fresh indian bread made to order were all pretty decent.  I couldn’t try at least 3 of their dishes as no one had re-filled them. :(

Lastly, dessert section; this was their point of redemption as the selection was great and the best part was that everything was served in small quantities which allows room for more! :P Loved the creme brulee, fruit cake, chocolate cake arabic sweets and ice-cream. <3

Overall, the view and ambiance is worth the hype, can’t say the same about the food.
